- A new Fuel Purchase Report allows fleet managers to review fuel and non-fuel purchases by fleet or vehicle which reduces the need to reference two systems.
Automatic Driver Assignments
Safety Track’s system now has the added support of Automatic Driver Assignments which allows drivers to be associated with vehicles without the need to manually enter their assignments into the application. This new solutions requires installation of an iButton reader and buzzer in each applicable vehicle. Drivers are provided with key fobs to be used when starting the ignition in their vehicle.
- Upon starting a vehicle’s ignition, a buzzer prompts the driver to swipe a unique key fob against a reader.
- This action sends a message to the NexTraq platform which automatically associates the driver with the vehicle, logging the date and time of use as a Driver Assignment.
- The Driver Assignment is reflected on reports and maps.
- A Driver Assignment ends when the driver swipes the key fob against the reader in a different vehicle or when another driver uses their key fob in the current vehicle.
- Our new Driver Assignment History report provides assignment details by fleet, mobile or driver.
GIS May Overlay
Safety Track now provides Web Map Server (WMS) overlay functionality in our platform. For accounts requiring customized map layers, a new feature allows users to add their own, internal WMS server- based map layers to map pages in the application. Once configured on the Admin-Account page, the internal map layer is available as a menu option on maps throughout the Safety Track platform.
Safety Track is constantly striving to provide our clients with an industry leading system that is affordable and easy to use. We greatly appreciate all your feedback so that we may continue to make advancements that are mutually beneficial.

Marcus SpeedLimit

Belleville – July 9th, 2009 – Safety Track, today announced the release of MARCUS® SpeedLimit, a new real time alert function that will notify fleet managers and owners when a vehicle moves faster than a posted speed limit while traveling on major highways and motorways. Additionally, this information is available on secondary roads in 60 cities throughout the United States.
MARCUS® SpeedLimit is an improvement on the existing speed alert functions that have been available for the last 10 years. Previously, drivers had to travel faster than a pre-determined set speed before the GPS would generate an alert. With the MARCUS® SpeedLimit product, real time alerts are sent when a driver travels 10mph faster than the posted speed limit of a specific road. MARCUS® SpeedLimit uses new posted speed limit information now available from NAVTEQ, the leading provider of digital map data; to compare vehicle speeds to the actual speed limits of the roads customers travel. When exceptions are recognized, email alerts are sent to dispatchers and fleet owners within 30 seconds to help them better understand their drivers’ habits.
Over the years, customers using Safety Track GPS fleet management systems have been able to encourage their drivers to change unwanted driving behavior resulting in fewer accidents and less overall vehicle maintenance.
The main causes for car accidents are reckless and negligent driving. Company drivers who drive more than 80% of their annual mileage on work related journeys have more than 50% more injury accidents than similar drivers who do not work on the roads during the day. Business drivers typically have collision rates that are 30-40% higher than those of private drivers.
The MARCUS® SpeedLimit feature is now available for all customers using the new MARCUS® V8 GPS Fleet Management System for an additional $1.00 per vehicle per month. Users of the application can select Posted Speed Alert in the Alerts application and activate this feature automatically. Customers can also access the Posted Speed Alert Report to provide a summary for any vehicle or fleet.
“NAVTEQ is proud to be an integral part of Safety Track’s high quality solution. Improved arrival time estimates and more choices in route selection are key functions that provide fleet managers’ great value.” said Roy Kolstad, Vice President, Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. “NAVTEQ continues to invest in value-added content and products that enhance our map and allow fleet management companies to optimize efficiency.
